It's so confusing-if there are all these scam claims against the firm, why would a real government entity use them. One interesting anecdote from a poster on BBB: "They tried to make it look credible by stating that check should be made out to a government entity but the trick is, most people do not have that kind of money laying around so they also offer a payment plan with payment payable to THEIR OFFICE."Īlso, check out this old article where the TLDR quote is "Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson, LLC "colluded with the City of Sugar Land to hide the fact that payment of a red light camera fine by local residents is voluntary," the release said."īut then I found this website that appears to be a legit website for Superior Court of Contra Costa County that utilizes this firm. Look at their Yelp reviews and BBB reviews.

I looked up my driver's license on LA Court, and the ticket does show that it's in collections. I'm in the same boat! My is from 2016, and goes to Santa Monica Courthouse. That being said, I really don't want my credit or wages to be docked and this is scaring me a bit! Anyone have any insight? $490 is not a small amount for me. The car I was driving at the time was a lease turned in end of 2019. That being said, I did recently get pulled over by CHP and nothing showed up (fortunately I received a warning) and I was also able to renew my license last month (I have a Mich license as I go back and forth and my "perm address" is my family in Mich). One is a "Delinquent Fees or Fines" the other says "Notice of Intent to Intercept Filing." Both say Superior Court of Los Angeles have transferred the collection and I have 30 days before I'm transferred to California Tax Board. I got a letter from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLC. I never heard anything until earlier this week. Read about it and did nothing (honestly I can't remember if I logged on to acknowledge it though). I'm here with the same question! I received a red light ticket on 12-12-18 in Bev Hills. considering canceling my debit card - would love to hear from anyone else who's in the same boat as me. Now I'm trying to figure out if there was any legitimacy to the letter at all - elsewhere on the web, I do see plenty of evidence that LGBS is a legit collection agency (and a particularly litigious one at that, supposedly), so I'm holding out hope that they actually did buy up my parking fine debt from LA and that this is at least real and not a pure scam.

when suddenly I remembered that $490 I dropped so carelessly. Felt proud to have crossed that one off the list.ĭidn't think about it again until this evening, watching my favorite YouTuber who exposes call scams, thinking I would never be so careless as to fall for such shenanigans.

I received the same outstanding LA traffic fines letter from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson that everyone here seems to have received, and paid the $490 fine on the site without a second thought.

so I guess you could say I was kinda waiting for a letter like this to show up. Figured they'd find me after some time, and decided whenever that day came, I'd just pay whatever the fine was and put it behind me.

I ended up moving after that, the letters stopped coming. I had a few parking tickets in Culver City a few years back, couldn't afford to pay them at the time and ignored all the letters they sent for a couple years. If this is indeed a scam, I'm embarrassed to say I fell for it.
